The ICT Teachers’ Association of Uganda is a fraternity of teachers of ICT and Computer Studies in Uganda. It started when a group of friends, inspired by Rogers Mukalele chose to collaborate and share teaching resources through a WhatsApp group. As more colleagues joined the group, the need for a more formal organisation that involved all teachers of ICT across Uganda arose.
A meeting was convened and the association was born. It currently has over 2000 members with 400 of them registered on the ITAU website and over 700 in the WhatsApp groups. The association has an executive body of 56 including a National Executive and 4 regional executives i.e. East, Central, North and West.
Among the activities, Capacity Development Workshops are held annually at National Level and regional level. The most recent National Capacity Development Workshop was held during first term holidays of 2019 at Kololo SSS. Currently, 4 regional workshops have been organised and will be held at Busoga College Mwiri, Kyebambe Girls School, Dr. Obote College and King’s College Budo.
